Dr Ganga Ganesvaran – Neurologist & Geriatrician

Dr Ganga Ganesvaran, specialist in Geriatrics and Neurology

Dr Ganesvaran is a dual qualified specialist in neurology and geriatric medicine (older adult medicine). He obtained his medical degree in 1998 from the University of Melbourne, before completing his higher specialist training in neurology and geriatrics. Following this, he undertook a fellowship at Monash Medical Centre where he was able to gain expertise in movement disorders. He also spent a valuable period of time working in the Parkinson’s Disease Centre of Excellence at Kingston Centre.

He has expertise in movement disorders and treats patients with a range of conditions including Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, progressive supranuclear palsy, neurodegenerative disorders and multiple system atrophy. He is skilled in managing advanced Parkinson’s disease and in overseeing the multidisciplinary rehabilitation of patients with Parkinson’s Disease. Dr Ganesvaran is experienced in all aspects of general neurology and also sees patients presenting with symptoms such as migraine, cognitive issues, epilepsy, stroke, and multiple sclerosis.

He currently holds public appointments, in Geriatrics and Neurology, at Monash Health. He has published in highly regarded journals and is involved in post-graduate training at Monash Health.

Dr Aston Wan – Specialist Pain Physician

Dr Aston Wan qualified in medicine at Trinity College, University of Dublin, Ireland. He is a Specialist Pain Physician and a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. Prior to his Specialist Training in Pain Medicine, he worked as a Medical Practitioner with a special interest in Musculoskeletal Medicine and Medical Acupuncture.

Dr Wan is particularly interested in an integrative, multidisciplinary approach to the management of pain conditions and headaches. He has also been trained in medical acupuncture, prolotherapy, platelet-rich plasma injection, clinical hypnosis and professional coaching. Previously, he was the Director of Persistent Pain at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, QLD and Babara Walker Centre for Pain Management at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. Currently, he works as a staff specialist and supervisor of training in Pain Medicine for Monash Health pain service. Dr Wan is also consulting at Innovation medical centre in Dandenong.

Dharani Nagarajan - physiotherapist

Dharani has over 20 years of clinical experience and has extensive experience in the following areas:

  • Neurological rehabilitation including post stroke, Parkinson Disease, Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological conditions
  • Oncology rehabilitation including management of cancer-related fatigue and exercise for people with cancer
  • Management of arthritis, back and neck pain
  • Rehabilitation after surgery

Dharani is available for clinic appointments at Integrated Specialist Centre in Blackburn as well as home-visit appointments.

Dharani provides treatments tailored to each individual, reflecting their lifestyles and unique goals. Whilst ensuring a safe and effective recovery process to regain strength, mobility and confidence, she works with her patient’s health care team (GP, Specialist, other allied health) to ensure holistic care. 

Dharani has worked as a physiotherapist in hospital and community settings including Monash Health and Parkinson’s Disease Centre of Excellence at Kingston Centre, Victorian Rehabilitation Centre, St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington London. 

Dharani has a Bachelor of Applied Science- Physiotherapy from The University of Sydney and a Master in Public Health from Monash University. She is committed to evidence-based practice and has published research in social isolation and oncology rehabilitation.

Dharani is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and the Victorian Chair of the Cancer, Palliative Care and Lymphoedema group. She is also a guest lecturer at Monash University’s Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Doctorate of Physiotherapy courses.

Arlene Murray – Speech Pathologist

Arlene Murry - speech pathologist for children

Arlene Murray is a Speech Pathologist with a special interest in helping children with speech sound difficulty.  A highly experienced therapist, she has worked in early intervention teams in Australia and London, with primary school and high school aged students through the Education Department and in private practice.

Arlene brings over 20 years of experience in helping children with speech sound difficulties as well as a passion for specialising in this area of speech pathology to her work.  Arlene is a warm and welcoming therapist who believes that children learn best when they are engaged and having fun.  She is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist and ongoing member of Speech Pathology Australia.

Arlene enjoys the rewards of helping children from 3 years and up and teenagers to become independent and confident communicators as they increase the accuracy and intelligibility of their speech.  She supports children to be ready for formal schooling and to meet their individual speech goals at whatever age.  Arlene uses a range of speech therapy approaches dependent on the child’s age and needs and offers intensive, weekly or fortnightly sessions to suit the child and family.

For children with a diagnosis of Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) or suspected CAS, her treatment approaches include The Nuffield Program, REST (Rapid Syllable Transition Treatment) and Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC).
